Question re: my 2003 Yamaha 225 HP 4 Stroke outboard -

Can anyone explain in layman's terms the difference in cost in replacing a damaged crankshaft with irreparable grooves (cost of parts / labor = Total parts cost + total labor cost) ... VS replacing the entire power head ( cost of parts / labor = total parts + Total labor)

Nobody does overhauls anymore. Look into a remanufactured powerhead and take advantage of expert workmanship and the guarantee. Remanufacturers do in a week what individual shops did in a decade, and no shop has the expertise, or is a tenth as well equipped as a remanufacturer.
