A friend of mine is working on a 28' Bertram. The fiberglass fuel tank is being/has been damaged by the Ethanol and need to be replaced.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer of direct replacement Aluminum tanks? I think it is about a 160gal tank.

Tony, I would consider a stock plastic tank, if you can find one that is a good fit. Since the stock tanks (plastic or aluminum) are about the same dimenstions, if you cannot get a stock plastic tank, you will likely need to go to a fabrication shop. There is a "welder" here in So NJ that will build anything out of SS or aluminum. He is very pricy, but very good.

Would the plastic be susceptable to the ethanol?

I have not heard that the plastic is succeptable to anything! The aluminum is succeptable to salt, however, they last a long time, especially if you can hose off the salt.

Call Bertram in Miami, Fl where they are made, ask for customer service & explain your problem.
