Mariner 9.9 troubleshooting

I have a 1995 9.9 two stroke. Currently it is having an issues of what seems like a "backfire" on acceleration accompanied by heaving rich smelling blue smoke that shows up in bubbles in the water. Idle is fine but when you accelrate it occurs. Any thoughts?

first off thanks for the reply. Is this something a lay man can do with the shop manual or do I need to seek a higher power? Are there any posts about this? thank you
