Running a 1985 270 Sundancer at low idle speed, the boat walks from side to side. You have to constantly adjust the steering to maintain a straight course. The tabs are up and the twin drives show down. Is this characteristic of this model or any ideas?
I have the same issue with my 1995 230 DA. While it is single engine, it is still frustrating to be constantly turning the steering wheel back and forth. Not very relaxing.
Its my understanding after talking with numerous people that its characteristic of I/O's and called "I/O wandering"........it sure is a pain in the butt, regardless.
Check for play in the gimbal ring to steering pin. With drives down, move them left unt right and sea if the wheel moves with them or is there some play.

It may depend on the IO... the one's I've ridden in don't do it, although they do shift course with wind or currents. I'm expecting my V hull to run in a straight line when I get it in the water, and it's an IO.
It is your prop spinning slowly and the driver over steering most probably.Turn the wheel a little and wait for the boat to change direction. At high speeds your prop is working a lot faster to push your boat in the direction you want to go.
