Lower unit bolts

As some of you know, I removed my lower unit and in the process snapped two of the seven bolts! Well now that they are out and what not I would like to replace all of them with new bolts.

Does anyone know where I could order these bolts? I really dont want to goto a hardware store and compare them and hope I get the right ones :p

do you have any outboard shops nearby.they usually have buckets of spare bolts,for a couple bucks Im sure they can hook you up,I'd bet thru an omc dealer online you will pay big bucks

geez, unfortunately I dont have part numbers. I was looking at a diagram of the lower unit and it was all so darn confusing lol.

Neil, If you look at the parts list they may have the length of the bolt in the description. You already know the size, and the threads are ususlly standard courst thread. ANy hardware store can fix you up. Stainless bolts usually come in one grade.

It will be a heck of a lot cheaper. For example, i needed two 7/16" fine thread, grade 8 steel 6 inch bolts and lock nuts, for my OB mounting bolts. Mercury wanted $12 ea, the internet (speciality bolt place) wanted $8 ea plus $3 ea shipping. I ended up getting them at a local speciality bolt place foe less than $2 ea.

You may or may not find them at the hardware store. Or you may find something you can use by cutting it off. Depends on exactly which bolt you are looking for. OMC was notorious for using non-standard bolts, for example they might have one that is 7/8" long and the hardware store is 3/4" or 1" The 3/4 is too short on thread engagement and the 1" hits bottom in the hole. If that's not enough, they used non-standard thread lengths.

Stainless bolts are offered in various alloys/strengths. Again, it depends on exactly which bolts you are looking for.
