I've noticed that the fuel line extending from the primer bulb is 1/4" tubing, not 3/8 or 5/16. I'm planning on changing the line to 3/8" is that OK?

The engine started life with assembly 383721 - 5/16 hose on both sides of the bulb. Hose is now #0772564. I don't see why you could not make it 3/8, but both sides should be the same hose, and you would need the larger fitting with the 3/8 barb.

Yea, I picked up a universal primer bulb/hose for Johnson/evinrude motors. I could order 5/16 I guess if I really need to.

Is it better to use 5/16 rather than 3/8?

Tried to get that edit in quicker, but you need the 3/8 connectors forr 3/8 hose. The ones you have are probably 5/16.

Get the OMC primer bulb set up. You can get the hoses and bulb as a complete set from your local dealer for around $25.00. It's amazing how much better the OMC primer bulb works as compared to aftermarket.
