What year is it?????

I recently bought a johnson 140, I was told it was a 1973 model. But I stood corrected in a earlier post. Of course I did'nt get a book with it. How can I found out the year,. and where would the serial # be found. Thanks for your help. Dan

Dan, you can look on the port transom bracket for a metal tag. On the tag will be the serial number and model number from which you can get the year or post the model number here and we can tell you.

In the event the tag is gone, look on the block for a large siver welch plug. You'll find the numbers there too.

Thanks OBJ---I Can't find the metal tag on transom bracket. I'll pull the hood tomorrow and lookj on the block
