I am thinking about buying a 2003 Model 115 Evinrude Fitch. The previous owner reports no significant problems and service records seem to confirm. However an Evinrude service technician in my area told me to stay clear of the Fitch. The engine has approx. 90 hrs. with no major problems. Any input would be appreciated.

Your Evinrude tech should find a new career if he has no faith in the product he represents. The 115 Fichts have been excellent motors. There were problems with the first V-6's. The 115's were never a problem to the best of my knowledge. Possible exceptions were when OMC was going through bankruptcy and were using parts that might have otherwise been rejected. If that were one, problems would've shown up long ago. I might advise finding somebody else to work on your new Ficht.

E-techs use almost the same ficht injectors.

at leas the technology.

but if your mechanic says stay away from them and he is a factory trained technician, wooooooooow i wouldnt buy anything from him.
i think he likes optimax ?
