Mercury outboard 1990's model, no Forward gear

Ran great 1st day in the water this year. Power was good shifting was good from forward to neautural to reverse. Next day started, reversed out of the slip and went to forward but had no forward drive.
Any ideas?

Maybe your clutch dog or your forward gear need to be replaced, or if you are lucky they can shim it.. Without the proper tools to pull your gears, you will have to take it to be looked at by mechanic.

There is absolutly no possible way to answer your question.
Merc made outboards from 2hp to 300 hp, and believe me, they all don't shift the same. They also changed from year ot year.
You need to give a Year and full Model number or a serial number if you ever expect to get a real answer.
