new at boating had a pontoon kids grew up looking at a 72 15' Lund trihull are they stable in water and differance from a v bottom retired like to fish
Tri-hulls are known for their stability. I had my 18' 73 Glassmaster out on a windy lake today and absolutely had a blast. Most of our time was spent trolling the more protected coves while I fished but when it came time to run fast to a new spot the boat did fine even in the choppy water.
Tri-hulls are generally more "roll" stable at idle or slower speeds than deep V's, while deep V's tend to ride a little smoother in chop and larger swells.
tri-hulls are great lake and river boats. very stable at rest and have a shallow draft. great fishing boats. like stated above, don't handle the chop as well as a v hull, but all you got to do is slow down a little.
