I am going to replace my Johnson 150 seahorse with a 2001 115 Evinrude. I heard that the early evinrude fuel injected models had many problems. Any word on the 2001 models?
The 98 V-6s had the problems. The V-4s seemed almost immune. But 2001 was about the Bankruptcy period and sometimes parts were used that might not have passed inspection in better times. If it survived this far, that is a good sign.
I'm pretty sure the V4's were not as troublesome, as was mentioned. I have a 2000 150 Ficht and never had a problem in close to 400 hours. I think the 2001's were made by BRP at that point.
What are you re-powering with a 115hp that used to have a 150 on it? Definitely gonna notice the power difference.
no drama with a v4 Ficht, I have a pair of 2000 115 with way over 2,000 hours on them, only problem is a current one with an intermittant no oil alarm, but other than that, they are faultless.
Because the 150 I have is a 1979 rated at the head and not the foot. Also the 150 is a 25" shaft not a 20" like i need. The motor was put on before it was auctioned off. I contacted Action Craft and they said I should get 45mph with the 115. I am only getting 39mph on the old 150. , More weight and drag.
