1994 Maxum 3.0L Merc, Alpha One.

Background: I pulled a rookie move a while back and forgot to replace the bilge plug before putting the boat in the water. I did not notice until the engine compatment was mostly full. (basically enough water in the compartment to cover the ujoints and gimbal) To make this even better it was SALT water.

The next day there seemed to be more noise than usual coming from the engine compartment, a low growl I guess. I took it home washed it out real good and let it sit for a few weeks. Next time I started the boat the noise got very loud as soon as I rev'd the motor up a little.

I've drained the fluids from the engine and drive, both were free of water and metal.

Does this sound like a frozen gimbal bearing?

Thanks,
Tyler

That Sounds like a Rusted Gimbel Bearing,+ Possibly the U-joints........

Ditto, pull the drive, I bet Gimbel bearing and maybe the U-Joints. Pull it soon, the sooner the better.
