The up trim switch on the gear shifter works intermittenly. The down works everytime but not the up. How can I trouble shoot or maybe to correct the problem? I have sprayed contact cleaner in the switch itself but no change. The motor has rocker switch on it and works perfect there.

The fact that the switch on the motor works says the remainder of the system (motor, relays, and wiring) is ok. The trim switch in the control handle is apparently going south and should be replaced. Before doing that though, make sure the connection to it is ok. You might also disconnect the large harness plug at the engine and check it for corrosion.

It is still working intermittetly and that is getting annoying so tonight I tried to tear into it with no luck. How do I get into that rocker thumb switch? I had the entire throttle housing apart but it still would not let me into the switch area to check the connection. If there is a diagram or pictures anywhere I would appreciate it. Also is there any springs or surprises in there that I should know about before hand?
