My worker John has a sister, in her 40's.
He comes to work one day. Says he has been at the hospital most of the night.....his sister has had terrible stomach pains etc.......treatment was ineffective.....tests showed nothing....finally admitted. He picked her up that afternoon and took her home, still not well.
Asked him days later how she was.
"she knows what caused it" he said.
"She had a headache so got 2 panadol tabs, and at the same time remembers she had to dose the 2 dogs for their yearly whatever etc, so grabbed those tabs too."

You guessed it, she gave the muts the panadol and herself a double dose of dog tabs.
She wouldn't go back to the hospital.
So then she tumbles of her horse and cracks her pelvis last week, so at the same hospital, out comes her file.... and she felt she had better be honest.

Bit of a lesson here.
Cheers
Phillip

[colour=blue]At least she won't have a worm problem. :%

My cousin is a nurse at an animal hospital, she often tells me that some animal medication and human medication is the same stuff, just labelled differently.

I've looked at several animal meds and you're quite right. However, strength and dosage are considerably different.

Re: Taking medication

Medicating my dogs,goats, and horses myself I have learned that the meds are the same. I haven't used any of their meds on me but I have used my meds on them. If any of the horses start to get snotty they instantly get penicillin. All a person would have to do is figure out how many units per dose and adjust to human levels. A freind rides stock for a rodeo company and the only meds he takes comes from the vet or the feed store. He's 35 or so now and in great shape. You can easily get penicillin, kaopectate, or pepto. Theres lots of other stuff available also but those are about all I deal with.
NOTICE- JUST CUZ I SAID IT COULD BE DONE DON'T MEAN YOU SHOULD DO IT!
