i have a 1991 9.9 mariner outboard. it losees power when it is opened up . works great on idol and starts great just dies out to half speed or less when opened up . i changed the plugs cleaned out the carb. still loses power .bubble in the fuel hose stays hard . changed gass . it seems to be doing this more when there is a strain (against current) but this could be a concidence sometimes it doesn`t have enough power to plain off a 12 foot aluminum boat . i noticed a bent prop shaft and had that replaced but the rubber inside the hub was worn out so now it just slips . (i have to order a new prop ) ...but i would think this would of caused the engine to rev up . could it be the high speed jets are plugged ? .. thanks

ok thanks i`ll give it a try . i `ll get some carb cleaner as the first time we just took air to it .

These motors are bad about exahaust tube pluging with carbon. take lower unit off and look up inside and see if it is getting stopped up. they wii start and idle fine but trying to get them to rev up is a no no.
