I have a 17ft that the scuppers are right at te water line, they are new, the type with a rubber flapper. Prblem is, every time I wakk to the back of the boat the water comes flooding in. I know I can just block them off but sometimes I do take some water over the stern or sometimes it rains. Are there any scuppers that acutally let water out and not let it back in. Any weight (too much water from a good storm or a person puts them under the waterline and floods the boat. Thanks for any advise

Tashasdady, my scuppers go through the transom horizontally and those look like they would work with virtical scuppers do you know if they work with both? Happy Hollidays

Why would a 17 ft boat have scuppers? and furthermore is the boat built to keep water from below the floor. The forum is full of rotted boats that could not keep water from below deck.

just turned that was for the picture. they basic mount over the end of your existing scupper, when the water comes up to the level the ball seals the water from coming in. it works on water pressure, if the water is higher outside, it seals the entry, --- hopefully not, the water inside is higher than outside, it releases, and also water to flow out.

Thank you TD and DWJ I will try them.
Boomyal, as far as why it has scuppers ,I don't know, but they are right at the waterline of the floor and the boat floods every time I step back there. There are also acess hatches. 1 covering the entire 35 gal SS gas tank, 1 small round one near the front and a rectangular one in the rear allowing acess to the bilge pump. None of them are apsolutly watertight unless I caulk them which I do not want to do as I like to check things out down there now and then. Nothing rotted or cracked anywere. I pu a pic on photo bucket but can't figure out how to get it to show up here. Here's where it is though.

Ken, at the top of the reply box is the word (more).

click on it, select 'img' and paste your link in the box. It will then display the picture. For some reason I no longer get the box. It just prints something like img(null)img in the reply box. If this happens to you, just delete out the null and paste your link between the img's

I'm lost I tried taking out the null and pasted in the image. Photo bucket gives you 3 different options under the pic. Is image the right one?

Re: Scuppers that acutally scup

Hi Kenglad,

FYI on the scuppers with the ball. I replaced the flapper style scuppers on my boat. While at the beach with several youths climbing on and off the swim platform for a few hours, I noticed the stern lower than usual. I checked the bilge and there was plenty of water in it. The culprits were the ball style scuppers. With the motion of the kids climbing on and off the boat and wakes, a piece of seaweed lodged inside the cone and let water in. After pumping the bilge and returning to the dock, I hauled the boat and replaced the scuppers with the flapper style ones. No problems since. My scuppers are very close to the water line as you described. Even backing down no water comes in. Perhaps your scuppers are worn and not covering the outlet properly. Just beware of the problem I had with the ball style ones. Best of luck, Happy Holidays and

Successful Boating

Ok...the link to the picture is this:

http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p141/kengladd/100_0663.jpg

Now...you open a bracket, put the key img and then close the brack. Then put the link to the picture. Then open a brack put a forward slash and the key img and close the bracket. That's all to it. Lets see if I can type it out with spaces in it and they you try after removing the spaces.

Edit: I see the system drops the "http://" before the i127 when displaying this message. Make sure there is the "http://" leading the link. It also dropped the closing bracket on the first open/close bracket. "]". Make sure to add that in too.
