hi,
does anybody know where does the exhaust gases go?
there are two small holes on the shaft, which these are when the engine is idling.
at higher RMP's gases should be realesed underwater.
where does it happen?
in my engine there is a small mesh bellow the cavitation plate. is this the one?
not sure how you can remove the mesh, there should be a little hidden screw to get it out ... haven't looked at my 25hp yamaha with the same sort of lower unit in ages ...... the exhaust gas go out the exhaust by the big opening under the cavitation plate (that looks like a big trim tab) where the mesh sits ..... this is what it looks like right .......

thanks,
yes it looks exactly the same.
if the water is pumped from the mesh, what is the small lid with 4 holes on it, on the right side above the cavitation plate, covering an opening that goes directly into the water pump? above this lid there is a screw called VENT.
.... not to sure .... my memory is very bad after I landed on my head last weekend, but I know what you are talking about, it could be that these older models have multiple water pickups ......
