My father bought a 14' Starcraft deep v last fall. it has 3 seats in it, and he would like to know if removing the center seat, or cutting it in halve to make it a walk-through will in any way weaken the boat. We are going to put floors in it, but things would work out better if the center seat is not there. Thanks for the info in advance. Dave
I could not open the pic. May be me. Try posting it again please. Some Al. boats have enough strength w/o the center seat. If your Dad's boat has wide and strong gunwales, it may be o.k. to eliminate the center seat. As stated above, the seat may be keeping hull shape and may be needed for the required amount of foam flotation. What make and model is it? Consider contacting the factory customer service dept. for guidance.
Some do it successfully but I wouldn't do it.
Keep in mind as you add floors etc that it uses some of the capacity. Also be sure to retain the balance of the boat both front to rear and side to side.
I pondered the thought of removing that seat many times. In the end I didnt want to risk hull strength. If you look at the think in my signature you can see how I added a 4-piece removeable floor for about 30-$40.
