I have a 1995 75 HP Mariner ELPTO and I have to remove the drive shaft from the lower unit to check for damage. Blew apart the clutch! (3 jaw clutch)
I have a manual on the way but was hoping to get it back in the water for tomorrow. I need to know how to remove or move the drive shaft from the forward gear in order to check for damage or tiny pieces of broken metal. Can i do this without having to reshim the shaft?

Remove the carrier, w/pump and lower pump hsg, remove the pinion nut on the end of the drive shaft and remove it
