I own a 1995 2 stroke evinrude 150 hp engine,
my question is can i use 95 (oktan) fuel (gazeline)
or must i use 96 oktan???

you can use regular 87 with 10%ethanol.

in israel the fuel thats use in most cars is 95 oktan
my engine i was told need 96.
can i use 95?
its all lead free and i dont know whats 87 regular is... and we dont have 93 also,
we have 95 96 and diesel.
can i use 95?

Yes, but u see, the dealer said it to me in 1995 and since and back then most engines in il ware 96. i dont think we even had the 95 then... thats y i want to know if i can change it to 95, if anyone has any good furoms that i can ask there also? how can i call the manufacture or smt?

Hi,

As a europeean who stayed in the states for a while, I had to resolve the octane issue... This is the deal:

In US MON are usually stated (Motor Octane Number), and in Europe RON (Research Octane Number), roughly one can say that 87 MON is equal to 95 RON both beeing the standard unleaded fuel in respective part of the world. Here in Sweden we also have 96 and 98 RON usually 98 is used in high-power turbo-charged cars (actually Shell has an expensive V-power 100 octane gas for sale too nowadays). I have alwas run the Johnson outboards using 95, but you may want to check the manual for the motor. Here is a rough conversion-list: (You cannot directly translate RON vs MON with a formula, but this is how it normally translates)

92 RON = 85 MON
95 RON = 87 MON [Regular]
98 RON = 90 MON [Super]
102+ RON = 93+ MON [Super +]
