Hi,

I had the stator replaced and I realize that the timing is too far advanced. the Plugs are white and the motor is running hotter than it was before. I've adjusted the adjusting screw under the flywheel as much as possible and it seems that it helped somewhat but it just isn't enough. Any help is much appreciated.

The stator doesn't control the timing so it really doesn't make sense that your timing is way off because of replacing the stator. Unless.. the oriented the stator in the wrong position or the mechanic swapped (accidently) the wires for the 1-3-5 cylinders with 2-4-6 at the switchboxes.

Get your manual and go thru the wiring diagrams for the stator, tigger, switchbox and ignition coil assemblies. Yellow sleeves go with yellow sleeves ect..

BTW:
Get a mercury factory manual, because after this you will need to perform a lync. & sync. since you've adjusted all the timing screws out of wack.
