Hello,
I have a copy of original force service/shop manual (dealership copy). My engine is a 1990 4 cylinders 120hp L-drive.
I cant find the answer to important questions in the manual (e.g. winterizing!).
I am wondering if its worth buying a second manual (Selco or Clymer..?). Literally, if having a second manual can save me an hour, or prevent breaking a part, it is worth it.
1- Just as a general idea, do you recommend having more than one manual? Will that help?
2- Which one is more detail for a L-drive 120hp (Clymer or Selco)?
3- Is there any other manual in the market?

Have a wonderful day/night

Re: Selco, Clymer or Force manual?

The factory manual is written for shop technicians, so it skips over the info that a shop tech should already know.

A second manual is a good idea.
Clymer is a much better manual for your Force.
Seloc is full of errors and very little info on all the different models.

The Clymer has a section on the L-drive, which shows the areas that are different from the outboard models.

Also, each topic area, is broken down into information on the different models.

Your L-drive should be winterized like any other 2 cycle outboard.
Treat fuel, fog carbs and cylinders, change gear oil.

I agree with roscoe. Seloc not very detailed for different models. I should have read up more on which manuel is better. I will buy a Clymer now. I'm disapointed with Seloc.
