I recently purchased a boat with the 59 on it and i am trying to get it running and i went through the engine and carb. i replaced the fuel lines and the pump lines. i removed the belt drive from the distibutor to check the breakers and i was wondering if the engine and distributor had any timing marks on them. i replaced the coil and the wires and cleaned the rest of the parts and i got a spark but i want to get the timing right. any helpwould be greatly apreciatted.:/

The rear portion of the manual starter housing has a timing mark as does the flywheel and the top of the powerhead. Line all three of those marks up.

Now, on the port (left) side of the magneto, there is a mark on the housing which is pretty well centered with the safety switch, a timing mark on the pulley, and possibly a timing mark on the movable portion of the magneto. Line those marks up, then install the timing belt.

Tighten the belt so that there is a slight bit of play. That's it.
