knob on control box

I am a new owner of a 1985 trophy 90hp.
On the control box there is a flat knob below the ignition switch that can be turned clockwise and counterclockwise, My question
is what does this knob do?

You need to identify your engine and post this in the correct forum for that engine, Dave.
