Default Used Boat Purchase, need input.

Hello to all. I am looking at a 14' Starcraft deep V Hull with a trailer, a Yamaha 9.9 outboard, a motorguide bow mount trolling motor( electric steer), and several other goodies. The asking price is $1700.00. Is this a good price or not ? How good are Yamaha Motors? Thanks for the input. Dave Pic links below.

That's a beauty and a bargain at $1700. If all is ship shape that is.

Hi Dave,
I have the same boat with a 15 hp Mariner 1995 rig. It is a great boat. I use it in the ocean East Coast. In 1995, I paid about $3000, boat motor & trailer. I would not sell it today for less than $1500. As far as the Yamaha motors go, I have many a friend who swear by them. All salt water use and very few problems over the years. If you are going to load the boat your looking at with three or more large adults, you may want to look around for a bit more power. My boat goes well with up to four 170 lb people in it but when we put in all the gear, it slows us down considerably. What year are the boat, motor & trailer? The pic looks like it has been cared for. I hope this helps.

Successful boating,

Art

like everyone else said, look into it a bit in person but if its in as good of shape as it seems, id say go for it. Thats a fine little fishing boat with a solid engine (even though I'm a merc fan).

looks like a real nice boat. if the engine was bad, a 9.9 wont break you to replace or in my area a local dealer was taking trade-ins on two strokers for 4 stroke hondas, in california two stroke is a dirty word
