Aware of all the issues with these engines. Have just picked up boat from the repair shop for a very persistent problem of a midrange mis. Mechanic changed plugs to champion QC12PEP per TSB. But does not know if this will fix, guess he thought I had money burning hole in my pocket. I have changed fuel fillter and thermostats, use XD50 oil and 2+4 fuel conditioner. Diagnostics show OK and no water in fuel. Motor starts and runs good otherwise. Any ideas? Thank you.
Thank you for responding. the mis seems to be in the 2 3000 rpm range. It happens consistently no matter the load. Diagnostics shows no code and all seems ok otherwise.Motor is on a 17ft. princecraft boat and has low hours.Prop is the OMC SST 13 7/8x17. Also shop confirmed no water in fuel either.
Wow ! Could be almost anywhere.I'd lean towards a spark problem, but you might try pumping the primer bulb when it happens.Look at all wire connections, starting with the star washers at the battery terminals,Also be sure a primary wire hasn't loosened @ a coil tower.Maybe even run in the dark, and look for any arcing.
Hey do not listen to all the "reports" about Ficht engines, the V4 Ficht will give you many years of reliable running, the early V6 had some dramas ,but your 115 is a good motor, trust me on this one!
Thanks for all the good advice. I will now have to wait for warm weather to dive into this problem further. As for the ficht V-4 I had a conversation with a local dealer who did mention these were good motors and the bulk of the problems were with the 150's and up.
Can you help me with diagnostics ? I have cable, software, ibm thinkpad and get to the screen shown on page 11 of the users guide ficht diagnostics sofwtare version 1.42b. I have tested and confirmed com2 as operational on my laptop and rang the cable to confirm continuity ???
