johnson 25 hp seahorse engine number missing

hi i have a 25hp johnson and i cant find the model number i have looked all round it and there aint any numbers anywhere..can anyone tell me where i should look or is there any other way of telling what age my engine is.. thanks in advance

The number plate is normally on the port side mounting bracket. If it's missing, look for a flat plug on the cylinder block with numbers stamped on it. I would say it's about the size of a nickel, but I see you are in Ireland so I don't know what size coin it would be for you.
