I have a 40 hp 2002 model I bought a hydraulic til and trim for. How do you remove the pin that holds the upper part of the hydraulic ram to the frame. I tried to punch it out but it will not move and I do not want to break it. Any help would be appreciated1

I do not know about a 2002, but my 1994 has a pin through the center of the upper ram. If you have taken all pins and retains out, the shaft maybe stuck in the bracket or ram. Look on mercurypartsexpress.com with your serial number to double check for all retainers/pins. If it is just stuck, soak it with penetrating oil and try again.

If you could find someone with a manual that would help too.

Never actually seen one of these, and the manual is a bit vague.
Below the upper pivot shaft is what they are calling a "dowel pin."

Here is what it says.

Use a chisel or similar tool to drive the dowel pin downward. Remove the dowel pin.
Drive the upper pivot shaft laterally from the bracket.

Then it says to inspect and replace the dowel pin if it was damaged.
