I've been looking at a local EZ Loader dealer for a new trailer for my 14' 1958 Fleetform. Model EZW 12-14 looks like the best fit for the boat. The boat is 53.5" wide at the stern and the trailer takes 54" between the wheels, and rated at 1200#. Guestimating that my boat loaded will probably hit 800-900# with the Evinrude Lark VII 40hp. They're asking about $800 for the trailer new. Is this a decent price, or should I shop around for a different trailer brand? This is the only trailer dealer within about 60 miles of me, and they only carry EZ Loaders. I'm kinda weary about buying used...

That seems a bit high for that trailer. Not outrageous, just a tad high. Say $100 or so.

Hmm.. let's hope that's a highball guess on my part, but I doubt it. He actually quoted me for the EZ 14-17, 1250# trailer at $995, and that's more than I'm willing to spend. The EZ 12-14 1000# at $785 would be about right, if only it were wide enough. It's only got 44" between the fenders and the bunks are shorter than I'd like, with only 1 non-adjustable keel roller. I'm guessing the price of the 1200# trailer is actually closer to $850-900. Maybe it's just these small-town price gouges. I'll have to check them in the city...

You should give Olympic boat sales a call. They have many locations in Washington and are a high volume dealer.

There is one in Tacoma that is around 80 miles from you.

Thanks I'll look into that. There's also a couple dealers in Olympia about 50 miles away. Although I wouldn't mind shopping locally, they at least need competetive pricing...
