Re: 50 force model number

50 hp
7 - electric start - no power trim
Y - Made for a Blue Fin boat , usually refers to decal set
9 - 1989
B - mid year model version.

You should be using Champion UL18V or NGK BUHX.

They are surface gap plugs like this one:

If you are using a different plug, try .030 gap.

Can you tell me if the center electrode plug is a better choice plug or is the gapable plug ok to run?

Re: 50 force model number

The surface gap plugs don't seem to foul out like the conventional plugs do.
They are easy to clean, and they are what is recommended by the manufacturer.

ANother tip, switch to synthetic oil.
Sure, you will spend a little more, but you can get it for $20 a gallon, enough for 50 gallons of gas.

Your motor will not smoke (after you get the old oil burned out), and you won't have to worry about the plugs.
