Just bought a set of points from NAPA. However, I need to know the point gap. The clerk at NAPA did not know the answer. He suggested (17). Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance.

This is from the clymer manual
Turn the point set adjusting screw to obtain a gap of 0.020 inch. when measured with a flat feeler gauge. The gap is correct when the feeler gauge offers a slight drag as it is slipped between the points. When the gap is correct, tighten the hold down screw securely and recheck the point gap. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise 2 full revolutions and recheck the point gap.

I just rechecked this spec in my factory manual. If it is a magneto ignition then 0.020 is correct. If the motor has an alternator then it should be 0.015 inch
