Need help. 8 hp yamaha outboard- Hard to turn engine

Can anyone give me an ideal of what might be wrong with my 8 hp outboard. Very hard to pull starter cord. put large bar on and can turn but very hard. What might be causing the engine to turn so hard?. what do I have to buy to repair?

pull out plugs and put some oil down there

see what happens

take the plugs out and then pull it to see if it spins freely, like justintime said add a bit of 2-stroke in the cylinder just enough to lube it properly, it should spin freely with the plugs out, do you run it at 50:1 fuel oil mixture as it should? ..... turning the engine ... there should be an adjuster screw on the side of the motor under the cowling that adjust the resistance on turning the enigine, just lighten it and it will turn better, also check that it has enough grease where it should .....
