On a 1991 Yamaha 70HP with a 3 cylinder engine, I do not understand how to adjust the float :( I have inverted the carb and the float opens beyond manufacturer specifcations. I need to shorten the distance between the float and base.

The carb is setup like this: The float pivots off a hinge pin that is screwed down by a small screw. The needle and the needle's wire are hanging to the center of the float. Not exactly sure how to shorten the float distance. I dont know what a tang is or what needs to be bent.

if the tang that the needle valve is on is plastic there ios no adjustments, if its a little metal tang it can be bent up and down to adjust float height.
the tang is between the struts that the float hinge pin goes through.

Re: Adj Float using Tang

The manual I have says to adjust between .47 and .63 but it covers so many years and 50-90HP range that it was very unclear for my specific year/model. Since I dont have anything to bend, I guess the float cant be adjusted. :% I put it all back together and seems to run OK. Thank you.
