Hi folks
I have a 1972 100hp Evinrude on a 40ft toon, do to all the problems I keep having with it, I want to replace it with something a little newer. The question I have is, will I have any issues with the throttle control or steering mechanism. The shift control is connected by a 2 inch wide multi conductor plug in to the motor. I don’t suppose this is standard for all motors…That’s probley asking way too much .....The steering is connected by a Teleflex cable mounted on the motor mount next to the out board.

The steering should be adaptable, but if it was a foot longer cable that went thru the tilt tube it would be an improvement.

Not much hope for the electric shift control connecting to much else.

Steering should be ok, but you will need new controls, wiring harness and cable(s). (Hopefully it will come with the motor). But, they are on Ebay all the time. The type you will need will depend on how new you go with the motor...
