My motors a '88 or so (i think) it does have single float carbs. they were flooding out bad, 2 of them were spilling fuel out the front at idle. took them off cleaned them floats seem ok, etc put back on and still fpour fuel out throats. I was wondering what the factory settings should be ( how many turns open) on front screws on face of carbs, or if maybe floats can be adjusted etc. I'm know super mechanic just having to learn to work on my on stuff because of cost. any help greatly appreciated. also if it tells you anything it's the top and bottom carb leaking fuel out front. thanks, bob
the seloc or clymers will do what you need. the factory yamaha is ok but for that year model is very sparse with actual information.
just be aware the seloc and clymers cover a range of models and can be confusing if your not careful to remain in your models group.
I cant remember if the carb kits come with floats or not for that model carb.
They do come with floats, the main problem will be the sticking needles. You do replace the seats as well on those models. The engines using those carbs were the 1984and 1985 models.
the "needle" looks to have a rubber tip on the point, is this replaceable? also where would I buy a kit for this old of a carbs, probally pricy I bet. thank you guys for all the help, just tryin to learn... bob
Those parts are still available from yamaha and aftermarket vendors. You will replace the complete needle including the rubber tip as well as the seats.
