1988 25hp missing , stalling ?

Hi All, I have a 25hp merc (1988) on our pontoon boat that has ran well for a few years. We mostly just put around at low speed most of the time. Last weekend it started to run poorly and will not idle. I changed the spark plugs but that did not help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would check the fuel tank for water. I would also check and clean the carb. You may have a build up of water or varnish in the carb.
