Default 01 yamaha lost #2 cylinder

The other day boat began to run bad.Burnt #2 plug pretty bad. There was I thought carbon build up on on plug but now im thinking it was peices of metal seized to it.I have very little compression on that cylinder with a metal to metal grinding noise every so often turning the fly wheel by hand.Took a flash light looked in cylinder noticed piston was pitted with some peices of metal behind cylinder wall. I know its trashed just want to know what may have caused this.Alarms worked a month ago but this time no buzzer alarmed at all. Thanks if you have any info.

Im sure it is rings or bearings just wondering if it over heated or maybe lack of oil not sure.just kind of puzzeled because motor ran great and in a matter of seconds its crap.

With out an alarm going off, best guess would be a fuel restriction. Dissassembly will be necessaryu to determne the cause.
