I have a 4.3L V6 OMC cobra 1986 that will not run. It will kick over with the key in the start position but dies in run position. I have spark and fuel and the iginition switch is good. Any ideas?

Re: OMC Engine will not run

You should have two leads going to the positive side of the coil. With the ignition switch in the run position, you should have power on the purple/red (resistor wire) wire on the positive terminal of the coil. If not, it's open and needs replaced.
The reason it runs a bit when cranking is the coil is getting power from the other wire (Purple/Black) going to the coil from the starter solenoid.

Thanks for the point in the right direction. I found a fuse that was not in the schematics, that was blown while tracing the wiring. So far, it seems to have to corrected the problem. Thanks again!!!
