Hello,
I'm french and I bought a 40HP Mariner outboards in 1991 (Serial number 6E9 S 016859 and Model number 7-040201 Y, 2 cyl. 750 cc, mixed gasoline, 2 carb) at Papeete (Tahiti, french polynesia). Now the compression is not enough to permit the propelling of boat.
We would like to open the engine for repairing but the french dealers' data base doesn't contain the engine's spares references (gaskets, piston rings...).
Is there anybody who knows the adaptable spares references (if there are today!) for permitting us to do the repair operation.
We are in bad situation with this engine wich is in very good health but we just have to do the first preventive operation (in 12 years!!!).
To inform: these mariner engines were created at low costs to be exported (from Japan) to the oceanic countries and were manufactured by Yamaha (I'm not sure for Yamaha!).

Thank a lot, I hope anybody will can help us.
Best regards
Dave
