The primer bulb goes soft and the engine runs out of gas. Switched gas tanks and it did the same thing. Made it back in by hand pumping the bulb and keeping the fuel going to the engine. Do i a bad fuel pump?
I would also check your fuel filter. I had a similar problem with my 50 hp Merc and I discovered a bunch of gunk in the fuel filter. Cleaned it out and it helped.
