i think i wrist pin bad or piston slap. can you remove it on the motor 3 cly 89 80 hp merc

maybe someone can answer this how hard is the power head to remove compared to 135 johnson i removed a couple yrs ago. i misplace shop manual in my home

Delsol, The piston can certainly be removed from that motor. It should be easier than your V-4 Johnson, since it is less cylinders and weight.

Normally, 2-cycle motors do not have obvious piston slap or a bad piston pin. The piston pin usually has needle bearings, which are very tough.

chris i took power head off.the manual is a little confusing. do i have to remove crankshaft to take pistons out. it looks that way in book. the shop manual is poor imo. compared to autos and other stuff.

the crank, pistons and rods come out as an assy.

DELSOL, The cylinder head does not come off on that motor. So, you cannot remove the connecting rod bearing cap and pull the piston out. You can remove all the bearing caps and roller bearing and leave the pistons in, if you want.
