Hi and thanks for allowing me into this very informative forum. My problems began when my motor would turn over but had no spark. The marine mechanic troubleshooted the electrical and said the stator was dead. New stator in and I launched the boat today and I couldn't start the motor, it would turn over and kind of miss without firing. After 5 minutes of this to no avail I opted to try and start it manually which worked and the motor started after 10-15 minutes of pulling. Motor seemed to be running/idling strong but when I put the throttle into gear and eased it into 10 o'clock it seemed like there was a lack of power and as I pushed all the way the boat ran at a fast trolling speed. I took it out for a half hour and it continued to run at slow speed with throttle maxed. So now I have a motor that idles nice but still has some issues starting and no power, I can't afford to keep taking it back to a mechanic so any help or advice would be much appreciated. One thing I should mention is that the mechanic said he disconected the kill switch wire from the switchbox because it ran better with it pulled. This means I have to use the kill switch on the motor instead of my key in the ignition to turn the motor off which is a real pain.
