evinrude long shaft extension cover

I have changed my short shaft to a long shaft and had every part except the extension cover. can i live without this part or will she be too loud? The outboard is a 1959 35hp lark

also can anyone recomend a place to get one?

Those covers are only for looks and are not necessary. In fact, they weren't on the early models at all. You won't notice any difference in sound.
