I have an Volvo SX outdrive on a 2002 Reinell 5.0.
Last trip to the lake I heard some strange poping noises from the back of the boat. Sounded like a drive line issue so I pulled the out drive and sure enough found water (no oil) in the driveshaft bellows. U-Joints were a little discolored but nothing major. My approach is to replace the Gimbal bearing. Found this: http://mercstuff.com/gimbalbearing1.htm
Do I need to replace the seal and compression ring also? The illustration shows only taking out the bearing. Also I inspected my drive bellows and can not find any holes. I replace the bellows last season any thoughts on where water is comming in?
