I have a 2005 Mercruiser 5.0 EFI. It was running fine when a lightning strike hit close enough to shut down the engine. The engine just shut off. I was able to restart but only when giving it some throttle. It wil not idle and to put it into gear it usually stalls. Started immediatly after the strike.

The engine is controlled by a computer called an ECM. The power surge from a lightning strike may have damaged that computer.
Time to take it do a certified Mercruiser dealer and let them hook up the diagnostic computer and check it out.
You are probably lucky it runs at all

This should be covered by insurance...I hope you have a good policy. Good luck, only 8 lives left!
