I took my throttle apart on the merc 888 to pull the side panel trim off and I think but hope against hope that a little gear didn't fall off. The throttle will actuate the throttle cable but not the shift cable. Sometimes it will get stiff and move the shifter about 1/8" but it won't cleanly click into any gear.
The "throttle only" slider (which right now is a long screw sticking out of the middle of the main shaft) is fully seated to the best of my ability, but that still doesn't make a difference.
It appears that I might be missing a gear that moves the shifter that sits on top of the gear that moves the throttle cable.
Is it possible to get an aftermarket throttle, or parts for this throttle? I don't recall seeing aftermarket throttles at the local boating stores, but I could be wrong. Or am I just putting it together wrong?
I'll try to get photos.
