Hello...
Have a 2000 135 Mercury Optimax. Engine was running fine at high speed. Reduce to a low speed for about five minutes, then idle, and then after about five more minutes the engine stopped running. The problem was traced to a blown 20 amp fuse. After the fuse was replaced the engine ran very poorly. Cylinder number 4 doesn't appear to be producing any power. (I checked this by removing the wires to the fuel injectors on all cylinders. When I got to cylinder 4 there's zero change in engine sound/RPM.) Spark plug, coil, spark plug wire all check out OK for cylinder 4, so I'm 100% sure I'm getting a spark. Switched fuel injectors between number 2 and number 4 cylinders and STILL had the same problem...4 doesn't seem to be producing and power, so I think the injector's OK. When I try to run the engine at high speed the boat won't get on plane and the engine runs very poorly. This engine has only about 50 hours on it. I suspect something electrical as this behavior appeared right after the fuse blew. Dealer states that the engine controllers rarely fail which I hope is true as they list at $1100! Any ideas? I'm totally stumped!
