vro pumping way too much oil

my 1998 60hp evinrude is consuming very large amounts of oil and running rough at idle any possible solutions other that outright vro replacement?

You have either a fuel restriction or an air leak in the gas line.Check the gas line from the pick-up in tank to the vro pump.
