Engine won't rev up Quick enough

when i come out of an idle zone to take off the motor won't rev up when i stand on it quick enough it takes about 30sec to come up after i hit the gas

Ihave a Mercury 175 black max but i premix the oil with the gas 1987 motor

Either you are overpropped or you have some rich idle jets.

Maybe Clams will chine in here, he is good with holeshots.

Skeeter, If it seems to load up and then clear out and rev up, that's a symptom of either rich idle mixture or a defective fuel pump diaphragm. If it just dies when you hit the throttle, that's a symptom of idle set too lean

It dosen't die out it just sit there an runs like its at an idle then all of a sudden it start reving up an taking off someone told me it could be the idle was set to rich an not burning off the oil in the cyliners could this be a possble
