New to boating. Purchased a 1988 Spectrum 1700 with a Force 50 hp outboard.
The problem we're experiencing is that the 50 50 hp engine is inconsistent in perfromance' perfromance - meaning somedays- somedays it will run 20 20 mph and others - it won't 10 10 mph?? It has never 25 25 mph on it's good days. And it mainly has bad days 10- 10 mph or less.
When it does 20 to 20 mph , it slowly, very slowly, builds up to speed - or - it 10 to 10 mph and stays there.
Have tried different trim settings, checked carb line, plugs, carb, gas tank, fuel 501 ratio = 50:1.
Previous owner had new topend, decarbonized, battery installed, topend decarbonized, new throttle cables installed, and lubed end flushed & lubed.
Any insight greatly appreciated. Especially, if we can get to a sweet fishing spot a little quicker!!

It tends to scramble more then it fixes. If you go to the window next to your post and select edit post you can make it a lot more readable. I would start with rebuilding the fuel pump and verify that all the fuel fittings are tight and there are no air leaks. The fuel pump kit number from NAPA is 18-7806 and is about 9 dollars and is super easy. Remove like six screws separate the two parts replace the diaphram and gasket and put back together. It may not fix the problem but it is the cheapest and easiet place to start.
